Afternoon tea at The Ritz

Afternoon tea at The Ritz has to be one of the best afternoon teas I have been to (sorry Harrods). From the superior service to the all you can eat sandwiches and cakes.

On entering the Ritz through the huge turn style door being greeted in the reception and directed to the Palm Court area. To which you are greeted by a fabulously dressed team who will do their up most to please you. You are shown the cloak room and the powder room. Unfortunately it was way too busy for a toilet selfie moment. Once seated at the table with Ritz logo table cloths and offered our glass of champagne, (also in a personalised Ritz glass) it was then time to order from the selection of teas.

The sandwiches were so good with an array of different fillings and breads. I had a selection of gluten free sandwiches and cakes. They were obviously delicious and possibly the best as far as gluten free goes. If you finish what you have, the staff wander round with big trays for a top up. Anyone a chocolate lover? You will love the desserts of all kinds.

The only comment I would make if that our table was a little small to cope with what we had on it. That being said it was a wonderful lunch. Bear in mind you have to book months in advance for a Saturday there were people being turned away on the day.

The decor and ambience is great as expected with a grand piano being played through out the afternoon. Huge displays of flowers everywhere, the ceilings and walls with decorations for for the Queen.

A lot of people are put off by the price, okay it is expensive for sandwiches but it’s worth every penny. Who doesn’t deserve a nice treat every now and then.

  1. If it’s free sandwich AND pastry refills, I don’t see how anyone could complain about a price…
Which one would you rate higher, this one or Fortnum & Mason’s?
