When going to Bangkok there is no way on earth you can’t go to Khao San Road. Whether it be for cheap elephant pants, a cheap massage or cheap dinner and drinks. It’s a backpacker hub on all accounts. Anything you want you can pretty much get here. I had a 30 minute goat massage with an added bonus of back and shoulders for 120 Thai Bhat (approx £2.40) I also purchased a nice traveller style Khaosan tshirt for 200THB (£4)
The great thing about Khao San road is that it’s lively both day and night! The street vendors are great down Khaosan with pad thai for 50THB and juices for 20THB you really can do foo on the cheap down here. There are restaurants too that compared to the UK are also real cheap. With fast food restaurants like Burger King, McDonalds and KFC even a Boots chemist selling the same stuff as the UK, What ever you are looking for you can find it on Khaosan. There’s a really nice roof top bar that gets pretty busy especially when it rains, it has a live band and is open until the early hours.
In the evening you tend to find Thais getting there music going along with a cooler where they sell the drinks from and just create a party in the street. It’s pretty fun to be dancing away in the middle of the road whilst others are shopping eating or people watching. Everywhere is lively down KS all of the stalls are open util late selling selfie sticks and fake IDs. At each end of the road there’s old men trying to entice tourists to attend a notorious ‘Ping Pong’ show whilst making a quite disturbing popping noise in your ear.
One thing everyone should try is eating a scorpion they are sold for 50THB (£1) it’s quite a good experience although very salty! At least do it for the photo if nothing else.
