Holidays and travel don’t always have to be able the hustle and bustle. They can be serene and beautiful experiences that stay with you forever. You don’t always have to be on the move to the next tourist destination. In many cases, all you have to do is drink in your environment.
Then the question is, which environments? There are many places across the globe that are perfect for this. It’s all a question of where your own journey will take you.
Land’s End – England
Based in Cornwall, Land’s End is situated in one of the finest and most beautiful locations in the world. If you’re there at the right time, it will create an unparalleled experience unlike any other.
Land’s End makes you feel small. You’re on the edge of a whole country, staring out at sea. Just sit on the grass and watch the waves and the birds overhead. Nothing else will make you understand the scope and size of this planet we live on.
Greenland – Scandinavia
People commonly mistake Greenland with Iceland. Where Iceland is a mostly built up metropolitan country, Greenland is covered in ice and has thriving rural communities. It makes you understand the isolation, but also the beauty and complexity of nature.
For one, the midnight sun in Scandinavia is something to make you ponder the workings of the world. This only happens for a limited amount of time in the year, but it’s such a wondrous and bizarre thing.
Being surrounded by snow and a sun that never sets should be a world apart from your own life right now. It’s as close as you’ll get to being on an alien planet in our lifetime.
Guilin – China
Not far into the Chinese mainland, Guilin is a place that merges the old with the new. Remote mountain villages are as common as built up industrialised areas. Due to this, Guilin is the perfect place to go if you’re looking for somewhere that can offer your modern conveniences but is also secluded in the mountains.
Guilin’s landscape is so unique. People describe these kinds of landscapes and picturesque. Guilin is instead like a work of art. The green covered mountains and wispy, winding rivers look like they were created with a brushstroke. The environment are unique too in that they aren’t quite jungles, but they aren’t quite forests either.
Boats are a part of the river life in Guilin. Boat tours of the area are very common and give the best possible view. While you may be together with a tour group, it’s very easy for the environment just to pull you into your own little world. It’s seclusion, but on your own terms.
There are more places besides these that offer a whole new world of adventure. What’s important about these though is that they offer something different. They offer a learning experience about the world.
They don’t culturally enrich you like an art gallery or a museum, but they show you that the world is more than just information. It’s about feeling something. These places and many more will make you feel.
